Geraldine Hairston was born on February 21, 1921 to Evelina and Leonard Hairston in Chase, Virginia. Geraldine known as "Duckie" to her family and "Gerry" to her friends, departed this life and went home to be with her father Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday May 25, 2017. Geraldine was educated in the Virginia public school system. From about 18 years of age Geraldine worked at bay at Bayuk Philly Cigar Factory, which she retired from the factory after many years. After retiring, she then worked as a private duty home care giver. While working as a home care giver over the years Geraldine grew attached to the Yudkoff family which became an addition to her family, and she loved them and cared for them whole heartedly. Geraldine excepted Christ in her life and was a dedicated member of Sharon Baptist church for over 30 years. She was a member of the usher board at Sharon Baptist Church.  Geraldine Hopkins was a God fearing spirit and person. She genuinely loved from her free spirited heart. And she was loved by many. A true "Angel" in disguise. Such a beautiful strong woman.

Geraldine was very meek, independent, and loyal person just to name a few of her attributes. A righteous woman who truly loved Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends. She was the type of woman of quality not quantity, with class,  and very humble. Geraldine was very special to a lot of people and had such a generous heart throughout her entire life. She was the epitome of lovable. She loved to wine and dine and shop at the top department stores. She loved to dress and when she got dressed she dressed to impress. She enjoyed spending her birthday's for dinner at the restaurant Red Lobster. Geraldine was a seafood lover, and when she went to a restaurant nine times out of 10 she ordered seafood. She was a very loving grandmother, and loved spending time with family. Shopping and going out to a restaurant was almost considered a past time for her. She also enjoyed traveling the world. She always made sure her grand-kids wanted for nothing. A strong woman of a youthful spirit that lived a full happy life. Geraldine met Stephen Hopkins, and they were united in holy matrimony. Within their marriage they had one child Stephen Hopkins Jr., which became the love of Geraldine's life.

Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter in law, Robin Downs/Hopkins; two Grandchildren, Nicole Hopkins and Dante Ingram; and a host of family and friends.
