Susan Ann Harris, daughter of William Harris, Sr. and Ranzella Haley, was born November 13, 1949 in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. She departed this life on Monday, August 7, 2017.
She received her early education in the public schools of Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1970.
Upon graduating from high school, she started her career as a childcare provider. She also worked in the cafeteria of St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington for eleven years.
On December 16, 1973, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Ernest A. Harris, Jr., and from this union De’Alva Lynn, Sonseahray and Sequoyah Cinque were born.
Susan was a member of Faith Tabernacle United Holiness Church and served a President of the Usher Board, and was a member of the Adult Choir and the Mass Choir. She was also an intercessory Prayer Warrior. Susan was a GIVING person and LOVED CHILDREN.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, De’Alva L. Augustine, Sonseahray Ross and Sequoyah C. Harris, Sr.; her grandchildren, Cheyenne G. Ross, Cree M. Ross, Fallon G. Augustine, Gravnie L. Augustine, II, JaVaughn Wright-Harris, and Sequoyah C. Harris, II; Goddaughter, Denicka Clark-Knox; and Susan’s best friend, Victoria Clark.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest A. Harris, Jr.; her mother, Ranzella Haley; her father, William Harris, Sr.; her brothers, William Harris, Jr., Elwood Harris and Gawain Harris; her sisters, Mary Harris and Alice Morris; and her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Alexander and Ernestine Cooper.
Susan is also survived by sisters, Barbara Harris and Sarah Harris; brother, Eugene Harris; her caring in-laws, Ephraim Alexander, Rev. Carmella Harris, Gisela & Earl Banks, Gravnie Augustine and Staff Sergeant Ronald Ross, Jr.; Sequoyah’s fiancée Ivy Vestal; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
