Claude T Carter

May 1, 1958 ~ August 8, 2019 (age 61)


Claude T. Carter was born May 1, 1958 in Wilmington, DE to Rita “Carter” Emory and Claude Melton.  He went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 8, 2019, in Regal Heights Nursing Home.

He received his early education in the Wilmington public school system, and graduated from P.S. Dupont High School.  After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army, November 12, 1976.  He was a Sergeant who received, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star.  He was employed by JP Morgan Chase for as a Receipt and Distribution Specialist fo over 15 years.

Claude was a faithful active member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church.  Where he carried the title of the only male praise dancer in “Trinity Praise Dance” and he was a member of the Men’s Fellowship Ministry.  

He was preceded in death by his brother, Darryl Emory.

Claude leaves to cherish his memory: two children, Medeeya Carter and Torrance Perry; four grandchildren, Keiandre Jackson, Wayne Hill, Jr., Halo Hill and Ava Perry; his parents, Rita Emory and Claude Melton; grandmother, Rachel Carter; siblings, Anthony “Tony” Carter, Donna Kellam (Darin), Mark Emory and Tasha Melton and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His Celebration of Life Service will be 7 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at New Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1402 North Market St., Wilmington, Delaware 19801; viewing from 5-6:45 pm only.

His burial will be 10 am on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19720.
