Deborah L. Brown was born January 16, 1958, in Jamaica, New York to Loretta Brown and the late Walter Brown. She went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 21, 2019, in Newark, Delaware.
“Debbie,” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, received her early education in the public schools in New York City, Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Sarah J Hill High School in Brooklyn, New York. After graduation, she received her BA from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, New York. She went on to receive her Masters from Sage College in Albany, New York.
In 2012 Deborah relocated to Delaware. She worked as a Correctional Counselor at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, until she began to have health challenges. She was a member of Seeds of Greatness Bible Church in New Castle Delaware. She enjoyed going to church and volunteering where she could. She loved children and was an advocate for education.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Brown.
Debbie leaves to cherish her loving memory: three children; Rarrmel Atkins, Shannon Davis and Lexus Harris; three grandchildren, Autum Atkins, Amira Pritchett and Ashton Atkins; her mother, Loretta Brown; siblings, Ronald Brown (Tina), Danny J. Brown (Thelma “Sister”) and Malcome Brown; two uncles, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 6, 2019, at Seeds of Greatness Ministries and Bible Church, 828 Frenchtown Road East, New Castle, Delaware 19720, with a viewing from 9:00 am - 10:45 am.
Her burial will be private.
