Dennis Hardie

August 16, 1944 ~ December 14, 2018 (age 74)

Dennis Wright Hardie departed this life peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 14, 2018 after a short illness. 

Dennis was born on August 16, 1944 in Richmond Virginia and at an early age moved to Delaware where he attended area public schools. Dennis graduated in 1963 from Howard High School with a major in auto-mechanics.

In 1964, he moved to Boston Massachusetts where he was employed at Polaroid Corporation until retirement.  He later returned home to Wilmington Delaware in the early 90’s.

Dennis lived in Oakmont, where he meant many friends and was noted for his 1959 Chevy Convertible. He was a soft spoken personable individual who loved to dress and hangout with his friends daily at Connolly’s while living in Boston.

Dennis is predeceased by his parents the late Hazel W. McNeil, John Hardie, and Sister Gloria Jean Smith.  

Dennis affectionately known as “Dad” leaves to cherish his memory: children Dennis Pritchett , Kenneth Smith and step-daughter Tracey Banks-Cromwell, grandchildren Christian DeAndre Stratum , Destiny LA shay Betts, King Zadie  Bussed, Stanley Green , Jaylen Cromwell , two great grandchildren, three sisters , Barbra A. Wells , Linda Mays , all in Delaware , Jane Wilson (South Carolina ) two brothers David McNeil and Dale McNeil and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friend - all whom he loved dearly.

Funeral Service will be 11 am, Friday, December 21, 2018, at Congo Funeral Home, 2317 N. Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19802, where viewing will be from 9:00-10:45 am.  Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
