Kenneth L. Davis (now John C Savanna) was born on September 15, 1943 in Chestertown, Maryland to Elizabeth Wright and Vandever Davis. At the age of 75, he went home to be with the Lord in Newark, Delaware, surrounded by his loving family.
He received his early education and attended high school in the Wilmington public school system. He worked for Chrysler Corporation for 22+ years before retiring.
Kenneth legally changed his name to John C. Savanna and was honored to carry that name. He met the love of his life, Gladys Brooks as a teenager, and they were married in 1992, and from this union Shelly, Shanna and Jennifer were born.
John loved to spend time at home with his family. He enjoyed horseback riding in his earlier years; he was a news junkie, an avid reader and he loved going to dinner and a movie. His favorite basketball player was Lebron James which caused him to enjoy the Miami Heat. He also enjoyed the oldies music genre, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, The Tempations, etc.; in addition he enjoyed Tupac Shakur and the message he spread.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 27 years, Gladys Savanna; his children, Terry Thomas, Shelly Savanna, Shanna Savanna and Jennifer Savanna; grandchildren, Rashawn “Shawn” George, Savanna Hyland, Brealynn Savanna, Madison Hyland, Brooke Lynn Savanna, Shealynn Savanna and Amoura Savanna; 1 aunt, Delores Freeman and a host of cousins, other family, and friends.
His Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Congo Funeral Home, 201 North Gray Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware 19805. There will be a viewing from 10:00 - 10:45 am only.
