Larry V. Brown was born May 10, 1959 in Wilmington, DE to George N. Brown and Evangelyn Kathlene Fisher. On Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at age 60, he went to Heaven surrounded by his loving family.
Uncle Larry or Uncle L, as he was affectionately called by friends and the neighborhood, received his early education in the public school system of Wilmington, Delaware. He entered the United States Army, where he served in Giessen, Germany and was a marksman. He worked as an assembler at General Motors Corporation. After leaving GM he worked in the warehouse at Pepsi. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He loved to collect and read comic books. He started playing drums at the age of 12; he played in garage bands. He enjoyed landscaping for people in the neighborhood, and he was a people person who found joy in doing for others. He was an amazing encourager to his nieces and nephews, who always highlighted the positive. He was family oriented, a selfless man with a good heart who was willing to help everyone. He was fearlessly protective, a storyteller, and a teacher who had an infectious laugh.
In addition to his parents, George N. Brown, E. Kathlene Bell and Robert Bell, he was preceded in death by his twin daughters, Lakisha Brown and Nakisha Brown.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter, Shanita Brown; siblings, George A. Brown, Alan Brown (Sylvia), Donna L. Brown and Carolyn Brown-Hicks, Robert Van Bell, Sandra Midgette and Chaka Hollis, and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Cathedral of Fresh Fire, 2300 Northeast Boulevard, Wilmington, Delaware 19802. There will be a viewing from 9:00 am – 10:45 am.
His burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, DE 19805.
