Lawrence W. Hines received his wings on December 14, 2019 at the New Castle Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 31, 1959 to the late Alice Miller and Donald Hines.
He received his early education in the Wilmington public school system. He worked at Hearns Market until he started his career as a Longshoreman. He then retired once his health started failing. He was a member of the Longshoreman Local #1694.
He had several hobbies that kept him busy, including working on cars, listening to music and hanging out with his friend, House. He also enjoyed taking pictures and cracking jokes. That’s how he got his nickname “Hard Copy.” Lawrence would go and pick up his Queen and princesses and ride them all around the City, sightseeing. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his girls.
To know him was to love him.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory, his one and only daughter, LaTosha D. Mowbray; his four loving granddaughters, Brea Barton, Anajah Mowbray, Ny’Airah Mowbray and Jakiera Mowbray; two brothers, Donald Turner and Wayne Hines; one loving sister, Claudette Bell (Thomas Bell); one loving aunt, Helen Miller. He also leaves to cherish his memory, two devoted friends, Renee’ Mowbray and Diane Scott, one devoted nephew, Alvin Hines, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Congo Funeral Home, 2317 N. Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19802, where viewing will be from 10:00-11:45 am.
