Marvin M. Dean

January 2, 1945 ~ August 22, 2019 (age 74)

Marvin Michael Dean, son of the late Melvin Dean and Florence E. Dean was born on January 2, 1945 in Wilmington, Delaware.  He departed this life on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Manor Care Facility in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Deano” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, received his early education in the Wilmington public school system.  He graduated from Howard High School and later attended and received his Associates degree in Criminal Law from Delaware Technical and Community College.  He served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army and received a Honorable discharge.

In 1997 he retired from Chrysler Motors Corporation after 30+ years of service where he worked as a welder.  He was a member of the Mary Dee Singers and The Association Club.  He loved music, favoring the Temptations.  Marvin was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, who you could hear cheering his favorite team whenever they played.  He also loved cooking, especially his famous mac and cheese dish.  If there was a funeral, gathering or whatever the occasion you could count on him to cook.  He often joked of how the guys at Chrysler talked about how he always brought full meals for lunch, not just sandwiches.

Marvin loved to joke around; he was a kind and compassionate person who would help anyone at anytime.  He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Flamer Sr., Carl R. Dean, Alvin (Chick) Dean, and one sister, Deborah Brittingham.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Dawn White Brown (Aaron); his only grandson, Dorian Brown; one great-grandaughter, Kaelyn Bender; a brother, Eugene Dean of Wilmington, DE; sisters, Sandra Lee of Asheboro, NC and Sheila Dean of Wilmington, DE; goddaughter, Dhonayale Watson; devoted friends, Allen Lawrence an, Robert Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His Celebration of Life Service will be 12 noon Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Congo Funeral Home, 2317 North Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19802.  There will be a viewing from 10:00 am - 12 noon.
