Robert Hill, was born on February 9, 1933 in Damascus, Georgia to Arthur Hill and Elloise Hills. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
While in Georgia, he received his early education from the city public schools and worked as a share cropper. In 1949, he moved to Wilmington, DE where he later married and acquired a trade education, through the Local 199 Union where he worked as a construction laborer and eventually retired.
As a Practicing Jehovah’s Witness he attended North Wilmington Kingdom Hall until his health declined. He enjoyed reading the Bible, travelling, gardening and caring for his pets. Having a deep affection for people, he was a devoted husband, father, grandpop, uncle, friend and landlord.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence Tolston, Dora Mae Toliver, Bertha Ushery, Pinky Bailey; his children, Arthur Pratt, Robert Pratt, David Pratt and Dion Hill.
He will be fondly and kindly remembered by his wife, Arleda Hill; his children, Letitia Saunders, Gearld Pratt, Bobbie Studivant (Robert), Keisha Wilson (Natisha); brother-in-law, John Strong; father-in-law, Olden Thomas, Jr.; aunt-in-laws; Grace Young and Mary Johnson; grandchildren, Damon Saunders (Charlotte), Zanthia Alexander( Sarye), Letice Butcher (Qwan), Calvin Pratt (Monique), Mason Wilson, Arthur Pratt (Keandra), Violease Pratt, Zanthia Oliver, Dion Oliver, Robert Turner, Brandi Mowbray, Robin Mowbray (Larry Eldridge) Cherrill Trainer (Sidney), Marlene Turner, Robert Turner, III (Carina), I’mari Brown (George), Adrienne Grant, Driene Gran and Tianna Mowbray; great grandchildren, Arden, Ari, Artie, Arthur, Taryn Pratt, Vivien Saunders, Keviyah Kelley-Oliver, Skylar Alexander, Troy, Deandre, Genesis Pratt, Ezra, Asriel Pratt, Mianyah , Page, Makeesha Mowbray, Ellahna Mowbray Madison, Parker, Sterling Trainer, Little Rober IV, Jayla Israel Turner, J’hion, Va’hiya Brown, Caire Fox, Fayson Allen, Yshaad, Qwan, Jr., Afini and Faaig Butcher; great-great grandchild, Kiaro Johnson; cousins, Jim Long, Douglass Long, Suzy Cooper and Ruth Barnes; nephews, Tyrone Bailey and Richard Dyton- Strong; goddaughters, Brya Smith, Ava Henry, A’Mani Walley and Aniyiah Owens and a host of other relatives and friends.
His Celebration of Life Service will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Congo Funeral Home, 2317 North Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19802.
His burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North Dupont Highway, New Castle, Delaware 19720.
