Alexus Monae Cumberbatch was born in Newark, Delaware on November 11,1996 to Ainsley S. Cumberbatch, Sr. and Sharrieff Stewart. She transitioned from this life suddenly on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
She was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Lil Lex or Sexy Lexi." Lexi received her early education in the public schools of Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from Howard High School, Class of 2015. After high school she attended Lincoln University. She was very intelligent and in her first year at Lincoln, she made the Deans List.
Lexi worked for UPS and later as a cashier at Sunoco. She was also an entrepreneur, who started her own business called “Exhale.”
She was always happy and was a young lady with a good heart. Lexi was loyal to her friends; to know her was to love her. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Lexi was the “Life of the Party” a real socialite, a fashion queen, who would never be caught without her make-up and lashes on.
Lexi was preceded in death by two brothers, Ainsley S. Cumberbatch, Jr. and Kahron Cumberbatch and her grandmother, Doretha Cumberbatch.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Sharrieff Stewart-Herring (Wardell, Jr.) and Ainsley S. Cumberbatch, Sr. (Arnice); her siblings, Jerrin Herring, Keiarah Fletcher, Lonja Wilson, Cory Herring, Alana Herring, Fantique Parson, Tierra Herring, Shacora Curtis, Kyran Jones, Christian Cumberbatch, Arieous Larue and Tynice Fletcher; grandparents, Bernadette Sewart and James Pugh; great-grandmother, Lydia Shelton; godparents, Irvine “Rose” Knight, Tracy Palmer and Elbert Minus, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 AM on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Congo Legacy Center, 501 W. 28th Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19802, with a viewing from 9-11 AM.
Her burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington Delaware 19805.
