Bernice Johnson, age 70, was born on June 14, 1949 in Hemmingway, South Carolina, to Samuel and Ida Mae Brown. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2020, surrounded by her loving daughter.
“Bunny” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, received her early education in Wilmington, Delaware. She enjoyed playing cards, smoking Newports and drinking Classic Coke soda. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Samuel and Ida Mae Brown, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Johnson; a grandson, Raymond Brown and her sisters, Juliette Brown and Patricia Brown.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Renne Brown; her son, Anthony “Nuke” Williams II; 3 grandchildren, Soereda Brown, Janina Brown, and Anthony Williams II; 9 great-grandchildren, Muhammad Carney, Tajreyonna Brown-White, Nyasia Brown, Taylor White, Miracle Williams, Anthony Williams III, Dream Williams, Azeem Brown and Raylaa Brown; siblings, Anna Mae Jones, Samuel Brown, Jr. (Dee), Lonnie Thomas and Kathleen Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 am on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Congo Funeral Home, 2317 North Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19802, with a viewing from 9 – 11 am.
Her burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, Delaware 19805.
