Obituary

Edward Waymen Young, Jr, son of the late Edward Young, Sr. and Jeanette Miller, step-father of Joseph Miller, was born on October 13, 1940, in Wilmington, Delaware. He received his wings to fly on September 8, 2020. He went to his resting place with Jesus.

Growing up in Wilmington, Delaware, Edward received his education from the public school systems until he was drafted into the Army.  He served 3 terms. He was a sharp shooter, and a rifle M-14 expert (carbine).  He received a good conduct medal.  He was transferred to USAR control group (reinforcement) xx1 US Army (reserved).  He was stationed out of the country and then completed his time served as a Grade SP4-E4 (1 rank under a sergeant.

He did a lot for this country and for his family.  He was a very a no-nonsense person.  He was an avid sports fan.  Let’s talk about them Eagles…

He was a career man from the very beginning of his work experience.  He worked for Dupont for many years and then landed a job at Chrysler.  He worked long and hard until he retired.  He still couldn’t keep still and began working at General Motors.   He was a man that loved to think about his future and his family.  Edward had some ups and downs in life yet he overcame them all.  He retired from General Motors at the age of 62.

Edward gave his life to Christ and saw the vision and purpose for this life with Christ.  He spent time talking with the Lord and the Lord spent time talking with him.  He was a man who was straight-forward and God knew that.  God accepted him just as he was.

He was a man that traveled anywhere his car would take him.  He also traveled to Las Vegas and Texas for his job.  Anywhere you saw, him he had that toothpick in his mouth.

Although Edward was dealing with his illness, he was an independent man.  He was ever so adamant about how he could handle his own business. He never complained about pain or anything.  He was strong and always determined even until he allowed God to take him home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Young and mother, Jeanette Miller; step-father, Joseph T. Miller; his brother, Preston Young, and his sisters, Jacqueline Speller and Mary Jackson, and his late wife Ruby Young.
