Edward Fairley was born May 8, 1937 in Evergreen, Alabama to Eva Mae Fairley and Booker T. Fairley. On August 7, 2019 at age 82, he went home to be with the Lord in Dover, Delaware.
Ed, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, received his early education in the public school system of Evergreen, Alabama. He worked as a Dietary Aide at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center until his injury. He met the love of his life Sandra Boyer in the winter of 1963 and they were married February 5, 1981 and from this union Michelle, Charles, Michael and Patricia were born.
He was an avid fisherman, he would go to Lewes and Rehoboth mostly to fish. He enjoyed venturing out to garage sales and auctions. His favorite pastime was watching wrestling and going to live matches with his daughter, Patricia. You could also find him watching westerns and traveling anywhere he could spend time with his family. Listening to gospel music, the oldies and playing the lottery were a part of his daily activities.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Steven Fairley, Eddie Fairley and April Fairley and his siblings, Eddie Fairley, Mayhew Matthew and Irene Fairley.
Ed leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 38 years, Sandra Fairley; children, Johnny Fairley, Michelle Boyer, Charles Boyer (Evelyn), Michael Boyer (Tamara), Patricia Boyer (Angelo), Edward Houge, Freida Brown, Jill Spence, Anita Lacy and Lowanda McIntosh; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one sister, Christine Reed; his Aunt Helen and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His Celebration of Life Service will be 9:30 am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Congo Funeral Home, 201 N. Gray Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19805; viewing from 7:30-9:15am.
His burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
