Claudette Delane Smith, daughter of the late Daniel & Lucille Moore, step-daughter of the late Roszena Moore, was born August 10, 1944 in Bluefield, West Virginia. She departed this life Monday, September 7, 2020 in Hillside Genesis Healthcare.
Claudette received her education in the public schools of Bramwell, West Virginia. Upon completing her educational endeavors in West Virginia, she moved to Wilmington, Delaware.
She was a former member of the New Pentecostal United Church, where she enjoyed singing on the Dickerson Chorus. You could often find Claudette working on her latest cross word puzzle or listening to her favorite artist Smokey Robinson. Claudette also enjoyed watching game shows, women’s basketball, spending time with her neighbors playing Bingo and Pokeno in the social hall where she lived, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Claudette was preceded in death by her siblings, Maurice Beck, Caroline Beck, Sandra Moore, Edward Moore, Chessie Murrell, and Marilyn (Norma Day) Jerrigan.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Yalonda (Chevone) Armstrong, her four grandchildren, Nique` Armstrong, Zion Armstrong, Zahra Armstrong, and Nile Armstrong; her two brothers Harold Lee (Lois) Moore and Wilmer Beck; sister Valeria Waters; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Moore and Pauline Murrell; her four Godchildren Curtis (Curt-Curt) Nash, Ashley Wright, Amber Wright, and Ariana Moore, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her viewing will be from 9:00-10;45 AM on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Congo Funeral Home, 2317 N. Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19802. Her funeral service will be private.
Interment in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue and Dupont Road, Wilmington, DE 19805.
