Ella “Mae” James, a loving Mom and Nana of Wilmington, Delaware, died on July 26, 2020, at 68 years of age. Ella was born in Kenansville, NC on May 24, 1952, to the late Henry and Hattie Capers.
Relocating from North Carolina, she graduated from Wilmington High School. After attending Delaware Tech Community College she received her Nursing Certification.
On May 5, 1978, she married Francis M. James (deceased). “Mae” as many know her by, was the most caring person you can ever meet. There was never a day that she did not show up for anyone even when she was in need. Mae was a great mother and Nana to her children, grandchildren, and everyone else that she met. She was fun-loving, outgoing, loved to dance, and loved her church, Ezion Fair Baptist Church. She will be deeply missed by all her family, friends, and all that knew her.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Ransom Capers.
She leaves to cherish in her memory: her three children Maleika Ellis (Kyle Ellis), Turod Capers (Dayvisha Hollingsworth), and Perquida Capers ; her best friends also known as her grandchildren, Meleke Baul, Macai Baul, Jaden Ellis, Jasai Ellis, and Navid Ellis; her loving grandchildren Nyia Capers, Quashek Capers, Tiasha Capers, and Turod Capers; great-granddaughter Maleiha Capers; her only sister Dorothy McGowan; her close friends who were like sisters Dorothy Stevens, Deloris Selby, and Sheryl Hairston; a nephew who was like her son Rodney Hall (Anita Hall). She shared great love for all her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at the Congo Legacy Center, 501 W. 28th Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19802, where a public viewing will be from 9:00-10:45 AM.
